Blue & Gold Assembly

Today we had our first Blue & Gold Assembly. The assembly was hosted by Mrs. Federowicz's class with performances by kindergarten singing a STEM song with Mrs. Brennan, a 3rd grade class singing a protest song, another 3rd grade group leading the school in making a rainstorm, and a few 4th grade students sharing about productive struggle.

From the Health Office

1.) Please make sure your student(s) have a change of clothes that they can keep in their cubby/locker at all times! This goes for ALL students, in case of spills/accidents/dirty clothes after recess

2.) The Lions club will be coming one day the week of October 31st. They will be using a Welch Allyn- spot SPOT and the Plusoptix devices to screen students in grades K, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th (per the CT State requirements) for a variety of vision conditions. The screening process is quick and non-invasive, taking only five to eight seconds. The PV school nurse's will be doing the hearing screenings for grades K, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th (per the CT State requirements) . If you have any questions or would not like your student to be screened for hearing/vision or both, please send an email to kward@southwindsorschools.org.

3.) Please make sure to fill out the Powerschool form, "Parental permission for administration of non-prescription medication," in the event that your student needs Tylenol while at school as it does not carry over from being filled out for other school years.

Mark your calendars. PV PTO's Turkey Toy Bingo tickets go on sale October 6 (the event itself is November 14). There are 400 tickets available. $7 per person. Limit of 8 tickets per family during the first week of sales and then we'll open it up if we have remaining tickets. Proceeds from the event benefit 5th Grade promotion activities including yearbooks, promotion ceremony and luncheon, class gift and plaque, and class trip to VMP.

PV PTO is super excited to share that the Trunk or Treat will be on Saturday, October 25th 6-8pm! 
To make this event amazing for PV students and families, we are looking for families to participate in the Trunk or Treat vehicle line! If you would like to join in on the fun please use the below sign up link! Similar to years past, the PTO Board will be helping with the cost of decorations and candy, each family vehicle will be reimbursed $30!
Some teachers are participating in the vehicle line this year!!!

Attendance

If your child is going to be absent, please log in to your Parent Portal and fill out the Attendance Monitor prior to the start of the day. It is very important that the office be aware of your child's absence. Attendance Monitor instructions can be found under Helpful Links, below.

If you would like to pick your child up early, please email both Mrs. Brown & Mrs. Strom or call the office at 860-610-0291.

Dropping off Items for Your Student

If you need to drop off items for your child during the school day, you will be asked to leave them in the vestibule outside the main office. Please be sure to write your child's name and teacher's name on the items and notify your teach via parentsquare or email that they have been dropped off.
