Hello PV Families,
What an exciting week it’s been at Pleasant Valley! Our Fall Book Fair was a huge success, raising $16,282.41 — right on track with previous years. Thank you to Meredith and Katrina, their family and friends, our Book Fair Committee, PTO Board, and all of our amazing parent volunteers for making it happen. A special shoutout as well to our SWHS student volunteers, who helped with ice cream distribution, served as our mascot Popcorn, and supported in so many other ways. Popcorn’s surprise appearance (thanks to Meredith’s last-minute idea!) was a highlight of Family Night! PS. Thank you, Ms. Heather O'Connor our amazing Library Media Specialist for your collaboration and support.

Our in-house Read-A-Thon is in full swing as we encourage students to fuel their love of reading! This week, over 70 students earned books by meeting their weekly reading goals, and we’ll be giving out another 70–80 books next week. Thank you, Mrs. Augustyn

Our 5th graders also took part in the annual Water Bottle Rocket Launching Experience with engineers from Raytheon Technologies. Students gathered in the cafeteria for an introduction, asked thoughtful questions, and then watched their rockets take flight—a truly memorable STEM learning experience we’re grateful to offer each year. -Thank you, Mrs. Brennen.

Parent-Teacher Conferences begin on November 19th. If you haven’t signed up yet, please reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule a time.

We recently completed our Fall Benchmark Assessments, and communication about your child’s progress will be shared with families in the coming weeks.

This past week, we proudly celebrated Unity Day—our PV community came together in a sea of orange to promote kindness, inclusion, and acceptance. Be sure to check out the photos included in this week’s newsletter!

Finally, we’re looking forward to honoring our veterans at PV on Veterans Day. The morning will begin with Breakfast with Your Student and Fellow Veterans, followed by an assembly where we’ll recognize and celebrate their service. If you haven’t yet shared a photo or signed up, please use this link and send photos to kcarmon@southwindsorschools.org.

Thank you for staying connected and engaged—please read through to the end to catch all the latest happenings at PV.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Graciously,
Esther & Jenna
