Dear PV Families,
We are excited to share the highlight of our week—our first-ever Cultural & Global Play Day! What an incredible event it was. More than 360 student projects were submitted, over 80 parent volunteers helped run activities in classrooms and the gym, and 100% of our staff supported the event throughout the day.

A very special thank you to Ms. DeHaas for leading the planning and organization of this special day. Her thoughtful planning, attention to detail, and coordination helped make the event such a success. She worked closely with room parents to recruit volunteers, connected with grade levels to build excitement, and even created a student announcement video to help students look forward to the day. We would also like to thank Mrs. Lewis, who first introduced the idea of Global Games at OH and helped bring that vision to PV, and Ms. Clifford, who partnered with Mrs. Lewis to recruit parent volunteers, research and purchase additional global games, and prepare the gym for students. Special thanks as well to room parent lead Mrs. Guarnieri for supporting family coordination and to Mr. Worth for assisting with setup.

We are also grateful to our PTO for their financial support, which helped make this event possible. To all our amazing 80 plus parent volunteers, thank you. We appreciate and value your time.

You had to be in the building to feel the energy, pride, and joy as students explored the connections and beautiful diversity of the many cultures represented in our PV community. From learning about American football, to exploring how Ghanaian kente cloth is wrapped, to playing Chinese featherball, to experiencing yoga, the day was filled with meaningful learning and fun. Click on the video below to for a sneak peak and the photos below.

The celebration of culture continues next week! On Tuesday, March 17, we will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and students are encouraged to wear their best green.
On Thursday, March 19, we will wear mismatched socks in support of our friends with Down syndrome as we recognize World Down Syndrome Day.
Looking ahead, we will have our All-School Movie Night on Friday, March 26. Students are currently voting for the movie, and it seems we have quite the competition between Zootopia (K–2’s choice) and SpongeBob (Grades 3–5’s choice). We’ll have to wait and see which one wins!
Finally, please note that there will be no school on Friday in observance of Eid. We wish a joyful Eid Mubarak to all who are celebrating.

PS. Early Release Wednesday starts next week.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Graciously,
Esther & Jenna
