Dear PV Families,
I can't believe the month of May has already come to an end and we are welcoming June! As we move into the final weeks of the school year, there is so much to celebrate at PV.

This past week was filled with exciting events and special milestones. Our first graders proudly shared their work during their Publishing Parties, our third graders showcased their musical talents during the Instrumental Demonstrations, and we wrapped up visits for the Class of 2039 as our incoming kindergarten students completed their school visits.

We also celebrated our Preschool and Intensive Preschool students during their Promotion Ceremonies. Be sure to browse through the photos in this newsletter for a glimpse into these memorable moments.
A special invitation goes out to all families for our PV Portrait Gallery on Wednesday, June 3, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. See attached flyer. Thanks to the creativity and hard work of Mrs. Baseel, every student has created a self-portrait that will be displayed throughout the building. We hope you can join us to admire our students' artistic talents.

Looking ahead, our fifth graders will continue preparing for their transition to Middle School as they conclude their middle school visits.

Mrs. Langlois' class will also host the annual Genius Hour Showcase on Tuesday, June 2, from 10:30–11:30 a.m. in the fifth-grade hallway, where students will present projects based on self-selected topics they researched and explored. Fifth graders will also enjoy their exclusive movie night on June 5 before celebrating their Promotion Ceremony and luncheon the following week.

We are also excited to begin a new South Windsor tradition! On June 5 at 9:15 a.m., members of the graduating Class of 2026 will return to Pleasant Valley to walk through the halls in their caps and gowns. We can't wait to welcome back our former PV students and celebrate their accomplishments.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our amazing parent volunteers. Whether you have supported Cultural Day, the Book Fair, Publishing Parties, Library activities, Genius Hour, field trips, or countless other events, your partnership makes a tremendous difference. Your active involvement in your child's education contributes greatly to both their success and the success of our school community.

Speaking of family involvement, our PTO is currently seeking volunteers to fill several leadership positions for next year. As many of our current board members will be moving on to TEMS with their children, we are looking for volunteers to serve as President, Secretary, and Vice President (optional). Co-chair arrangements are welcome. If you are interested or would like to learn more, please reach out to the PTO or contact our office clerk, Kristin Carmon, at kcarmon@southwindsorschools.org.
Thank you for your continued support of Pleasant Valley. We look forward to a wonderful month of celebration.
Excellence & Belonging
Graciously,
Esther & Jenna

The PV Portrait Gallery: Celebrating Identity & Belonging

Over the past several months, every student at Pleasant Valley has been hard at work creating a self-portrait for our schoolwide PV Portrait Gallery. While students practiced artistic skills in the art studio, this project also became an opportunity for meaningful restorative conversations surrounding identity, kindness, self-worth, and what it means to be part of a community.

As we enter the month of June—a time that celebrates individuality, diversity, and belonging—we are proud to showcase artwork that honors every child at PV. Each portrait tells a story and serves as a reminder that every student matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and our differences help make our school community stronger.

Families and community members are invited to walk through the PV Portrait Gallery on Wednesday, June 3rd, from 2:00–4:00 PM during Early Release Wednesday. We hope you enjoy seeing not only the creativity and hard work of our students, but also the heart and conversations behind the project. We are so proud of the vulnerability, reflection, and effort our students brought to this experience!

Warmly,
Mrs. Baseel
