Family Newsletter 9/11

Dear PV Families,

Another week flew by at Pleasant Valley, and we have so much to celebrate! From our well-attended Open Houses and benchmark assessments to the everyday joy of classroom learning, our students and staff have been working hard and making incredible progress.

We want to share an important update regarding a bee situation we have been actively managing on school grounds this week. The area has already been treated twice by a professional company, with each treatment requiring a 24-hour shutdown. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, the issue persists. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be closing down that specific section of the playscape until the issue is completely resolved. The safety of all our students is paramount, and we will keep you updated on our progress. Thank you so much for your understanding, patience, and partnership as we keep our playground safe for everyone.

Thank you for your continued support in making this school year off to such a wonderful start. Below, you’ll find important updates on upcoming events, health office guidelines, and highlights of what our Panthers have been up to across all grade levels!

Today, as we commemorate September 11th, we take a solemn moment to remember the lives lost, support the families who were forever affected, and honor our courageous first responders and all who came together to support and rebuild. In times of remembrance, we are reminded of the strength found in kindness and community:

This week, our Panthers were challenged to show what it means to be Engaged through active participation! We practiced being engaged learners by listening to others, speaking up to share a thought or answer a question, and joining in small-group discussions by building on a classmate’s ideas. Check out the images below to see some of our students who put their engagement skills into action this week!

Families can keep the conversation going at home by asking, “How did you show engagement this week?” or “When did you share an idea, listen to someone else, or jump into a discussion?” You might even ask your child to share a time when they noticed someone else being an engaged learner!
